About the Alliance
The Mountain View Preservation Alliance formed in 2001 to document and advocate for the historic fabric of the city. Its early work focused on downtown buildings, the remaining orchard landscape, and places tied to Mountain View’s agricultural and aviation past.
The original website (mv-pa.org and related domains) carried photographs, short histories, and campaign material. Most of that material was recovered from an old folder; the Wayback Machine holds additional snapshots from 2001–2005. The current pages are a reconstruction and expansion of that record.
What the early site covered
- Castro Street and the theater
- City Hall and civic buildings
- Orchards and agricultural scenes
- Moffett Field and Hangar One
- Landmark and protection campaigns
What comes next
Additional building profiles, clearer timelines, and any material Nick, Diana, or other early participants can supply. The goal is a cohesive public history rather than a personal archive.
