This site is returning. The Mountain View Preservation Alliance is restoring its public presence. These pages are a working skeleton. Input from former contributors is welcome.

Founded in 2001, the Mountain View Preservation Alliance worked to identify, document, and protect the buildings and places that give Mountain View its character — before glass towers and redevelopment erased the record.

The original public pages (roughly 2001–2005) were recovered from an old folder. A first gallery is up. The domains mv-pa.com, mv-pa.us, and mv-pa.org point here.

Why it matters

Mountain View’s downtown, orchards, and early civic buildings were shaped by successive waves of settlement, agriculture, and industry. Many of those layers are still visible if you know where to look. The Alliance’s goal is simple: keep the record intact and give people a place to find it.

Buildings

Profiles of structures that shaped the city — Weilheimer, Tied House, Air Base Laundry, and others still under review.

Gallery

Photographs from the original archive: Castro Street, the theater, City Hall, orchards, Moffett Field, and more.

History

Short notes on the Alliance’s early work, landmark campaigns, and the places that remain.
